The day revolved around the theme of the automatic dosing of liquid fraction for irrigation purposes and included a visit to the Mañas Ramaders Farm where an automatic liquid fraction doser has already been installed within the framework of the Life Agriclose project, a European project to improve the links between pig farms and the slurry or digested manure they generate, and fruit and arable farms in the same region.
Solid-liquid separation as a technology is increasingly being used in livestock areas as it facilitates the export of the solid fraction of livestock manure to other areas with lower concentration and allows for the use of liquid fraction (LF) in nearby areas.
A number of presentations were also made during the day touching on subjects such as irrigation technology for fractional liquid fertilisation, emissions of ammonia and aerosols in fertigation, and biofertilisers, that recover nutrients from animal slurry and allow for the production of tailor-made fertillisers.
